The Capitol Connection
Senator Conrad's E-News Bulletin

July 29, 2011

Dear Thomas:

Welcome to the Capitol Connection.  This email bulletin aims to provide North Dakotans with information regarding important issues affecting our state and our nation.  Here are a few of the many issues I've been working on in Congress:

FLOOD FIGHT

Pressing The Corps For Flood Control
I met with leadership from the Army Corps of Engineers to review the Corps' commitment to preventing a repeat of the flooding that has threatened and destroyed homes and businesses along the Missouri River this year.  I made it abundantly clear to
Brigadier General John McMahon, Commander of the Army Corps of Engineers, that the results we've seen along the Missouri River this year are unacceptable and must not be permitted to happen again in the future.

Click here to watch the video.

Visit my 2011 Flood Resource Center online for more flood information and resources.

QUALITY HEALTH CARE FOR OUR VETERANS

Keeping Our Commitment to Veterans in Devils Lake

I called on the Department of Veterans Affairs to continue the work necessary to establish a Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Devils Lake. The clinic would deliver more convenient, quality health care for area residents who have served our nation.

NORTH DAKOTA'S ENERGY FUTURE

Taking Advantage of the Boom

I had the opportunity to appear on CNBC's "Mad Money" where host Jim Cramer and I talked about the debt debate as well as North Dakota's booming energy sector.  The country would be better off if we were obtaining our oil from the Midwest instead of the Middle East.

Click here to watch the video.

I never forget that I am working for you.  Together, we can ensure a bright future for North Dakota and our nation.

KENT CONRAD

United States Senate
